PORT VILA, VANUATU

Dredging a channel from the South Paray Wharf to Iririki Island

Hall Contracting was engaged by the Government of Vanuatu and Hawkins Infrastructure to improve the navigational accessibility from the South Paray Wharf to Iririki Island at Port Vila.

Hall dredged a 50-metre-wide, 200-metre-long and 5.5-metre-deep channel by removing approximately 48,000m³ of material.

Coral limestone material was used to reclaim land for additional container storage space at the port. The works have allowed larger cargo ships to use the channel, reducing their voyage significantly.
