Noosa River Spit erosion protection

NOOSA, AUSTRALIA

Undertaking beach nourishment and installing geotextile tubes at a popular tourist destination

With the southern bank of the Noosa River Spit affected by severe erosion, Hall Contracting was engaged to dredge the Noosa River, using the dredged sand to nourishment the stretch of beach. Our team also installed mega geotextile tubes and dredged the footprint for a seawall and groyne.

Some of the challenges Hall had to overcome as part of the project included completing the works outside fish breeding season and prior to the summer tourist season, and meeting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance criteria as well as ICM requirements for working in and around mangroves.
