Installing geotextile bags along the eastern end of Mooloolaba Beach
Hall Contracting was engaged by Sunshine Coast Council to undertake an extension of the Mooloolaba Beach geowall. The scope of works included installing geotextile bags along the eastern end of Mooloolaba Beach between Urunga Esplanade and the Mooloolaba harbour wall.
The extension was a continuation of the existing geowall and involved installing approximately 550L/m of geotextile sand containers (1,608 bags in total) of varying sizes and heights, and placing approximately 6,700m² of geotextile.
Installing the bags and replacing the sand covering the new structure has reinforced and further protected existing vegetation along the foredune area.
