BURRUM HEADS, QUEENSLAND
Upgrading a boat ramp and constructing a new park, walkway and rock groyne
Hall Contracting was engaged by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to construct a new recreational boating facility adjacent to Lions Park at Burrum Heads. The project included constructing a new car-trailer park adjacent to the boat ramp.
The team delivered full construction of an all-tide, three-lane boat ramp, a floating walkway in the upstream lane for easy access while launching and retrieving vessels, and a rock groyne of approximately 60m in length to protect against cross currents and wave action.
Other works included relocating the existing storm water outlet to improve water quality of the main swimming beach, and reclaiming 7500m² of land for the construction of the car-trailer park and turnaround area.
