Dredging works involving the design and construction of a dredge bunds pipeline

Following the successful completion of the Ross River dredging project in Townsville, Hall Contracting was awarded a dredging contract for the nearby Breakwater Marina entrance.

The scope of works included designing and constructing an additional discharge pond to capture and manage the dredged material on adjoining Port of Townsville land.

As part of the project, Hall installed a temporary dredge pipeline through the operational areas of the Port of Townsville including across the channel, internal roads and rail lines.

Once the bunds were in place, the team removed approximately 63,000m³ of sediment from Ross River using cutter suction dredge Everglade.

Hall developed a methodology to manage the dredge spoil by mixing, moving and drying the material to produce a reusable soil, which was subsequently removed from site.
