Ba River dredging

VITI LEVU, FIJI

Dredging sediment from Ba River as part of a government flood mitigation program

The Fiji Ministry of Agriculture engaged Hall Contracting to undertake dredging operations in the Ba River as part of their flood mitigation initiative for all major river systems in Fiji.

The Ba Watershed is located in the north west of Viti Levu with more than 49,000 people residing in the area. The Ba Delta consists of silt, sand and gravel with rapid build-up from erosion in the middle and upper reaches of the Ba River, which subjects it to both river and coastal flooding.

Hall engaged cutter suction dredge Kikilu to dredge around 400,000m³ of material from the river. The team completed the project on budget and ahead of schedule.
