Conducting a major road upgrade and constructing a bridge and new accessway to Bokarina Beach
Hall Contracting was engaged by Stockland to undertake a major civil construction project on Nicklin Way on the Sunshine Coast. The scope of works included delivering a new northbound and southbound bridge, upgrading Nicklin Way to six lanes and constructing a new accessway to Bokarina Beach.
Key deliverables included:
- complex traffic management;
- road surfacing;
- revetment walls;
- excavation to link a nearby waterway development;
- intersection upgrades;
- earthworks and settlement monitoring;
- service relocations;
- upgrading an existing sewer pump station and relocating an existing water main;
- constructing retaining walls; and
- constructing a suspended pedestrian walkway/boardwalk and linkages.
With approximately 40,000 vehicles travelling Nicklin Way each day, works were managed at night to limit interference for road users. Upon conclusion of the project, zero complaints were received from road users or surrounding businesses and residences.
