Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) has gained a licence for Port Towage Services for the iron ore export terminal at Port Hedland, Western Australia and is constructing infrastructure for tugs. Hall Contracting has been awarded the contract of dredging adjacent Anderson Point for the construction of the tug facility.
The scope of works comprises dredging of the Tug Facility extent and approach channel from end of AP3 Berth. The volume of material to be dredged for this development is a nominal 0.8 million cubic metres. Hall Contracting’s CSD’s Eastern Aurora and Mabuiag will dredge the material to the designated design level of the Tug Infrastructure pocket, approach channel and benched areas. All dredged material will be reclaimed onshore to the Designated Material Management Area.
