Hall Contracting was engaged by Stockland Development Pty Ltd to construct of a northbound and southbound bridge and pedestrian underpass, upgrade Nicklin Way to six lanes, and new access to Bokarina Beach.
The project included complex traffic management, road surfacing, revetment walls, excavation to link waterway development, intersection upgrades, earthworks and settlement monitoring, draining, service relocations, an upgrade to the existing Unitywater sewer pump station, relocation of the existing water main, construction of retaining walls and construction of suspended pedestrian walkway/boardwalk and linkages.
Six lanes were constructed, with widening and additional lanes marked on the new entry intersection to Bokarina Beach. All roadworks and bridgeworks adhered to the DTMR prequalification level of R3/4 and B3, as well as UnityWater specifications. There were 40,000 vehicles per day, with nightworks undertaken to limit interference with traffic. All traffic was diverted via a constructed sidetrack while maintaining two lanes in each direction as per the existing Nicklin Way.
Throughout the project period, there were no issues with traffic during construction period, and zero complaints from the local community or travelling public.
