Hall Contracting Pty Ltd was engaged by the Darwin Port Corporation to undertake dredging, dredge spoil disposal and compliance with environmental management. This was required to increase the depth of the shipping channel through Charles Point Patches to a minimum depth of 14m below Chart Datum.
The scope of works included hydrographic surveys and the dredging of 105,000m³ of sand and shell fragments, some rock and rubble with a base of hard clay. Dredge spoils were deposited in a manner consistent with environmental approvals.
Hall Contracting utilised our CSD “Eastern Aurora” & Multicat Groote Eylandt to complete the dredging works. Local tugboats were used to transfer the dredge from Darwin Harbour to Charles Point Patches.
