Following our successful completion of the Ross River dredging project, Hall Contracting was awarded the dredging of the nearby Breakwater Marina entrance. The scope included the design and construction of an additional discharge pond to capture and manage the dredge discharge material on the adjoining Port of Townsville land. In addition, Hall Contracting installed a temporary dredge pipeline through the operational areas of the Port of Townsville including across the Port channel, internal roads and rail lines.
Once the bunds were in place Hall Contracting completed the removal of approximately 63,000m3 of sediments from Ross River by the Cutter Suction Dredge ‘Everglade’. Hall Contracting developed a methodology to manage the dredge spoil by mixing, moving and drying the dredge material to produce a reusable soil which was then subsequently removed from the site.
