Hall Contracting delivered a 780m sub-surface cement bentonite cutoff wall along the length of the western batter of Pearce Avenue Landfill. This was constructed to minimise groundwater flow off site, and works were completed in two stages.
The initial stage involved the construction of the wall, which was keyed into a low permeability sub strata and clay perimeter bund. A leachate collection system, consisting of collection trenches, rising main, pump station and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, was also constructed.
The scope of works included the development of 780m of access road, a sedimentation pond and other surface water management infrastructure.
