With the waterways around Cairns popular with tourists and locals alike, the Department of Transport and Main Roads engaged Hall to construct a new recreational boat launching facility at Yorkeys Knob.
The facility – located west of Yorkeys Knob Boating Club marina – includes a six-lane boat ramp with three floating walkways, two breakwaters, a car park and access road, footpath and amenities block on completion.
The new infrastructure aims to improve safety and reduce congestion at the existing Yorkeys Knob boat ramp, reducing wait times for boaties launching and retrieving their vessels on the north side of the Cairns CBD.
As part of the project, Hall dredged approximately 20,000 cubic metres of material to form the future harbour basin and access channel and used this material as well as imported fill to construct a reclamation platform housing a car park with 63 single car spaces and 135 car-trailer spaces.
